The "FAI Spring Days" are wonderful spectacles of art and beauty dedicated to everyone who cares about Italy’s heritage of art and nature and opportunities to open up sites all over Italy that are often not open to the public.
On 25 and 26 March, Fondazione Zegna and Oasi Zegna are organizing a full immersion in the world of Zegna, with new itineraries (different ones on Saturday and Sunday), an art workshop devised for the occasion and, once again, the opportunity to visit the Ermenegildo Zegna Wool Mill, which is in great demand.
NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND OLD FAVORITES
Open to the public for the very first time, “Ermenegildo Zegna’s Hidden Places” (Sunday): a tour exploring art, architecture and nature that takes in the garden of Ermenegildo Zegna’s home (landscaped by Otto Maraini and Pietro Porcinai) and the small private cinema (designed by Otto Maraini) which has just been renovated and where there will be a showing of the documentary “From Wool to Fabric” (Istituto Luce, 1939). The cinema is next to the Picture Room, with canvases by Ettore Pistoletto, father of Michelangelo Pistoletto.
FAI Spring Days are also an opportunity for Casa Zegna to show the public the results of certain Fondazione Zegna activities in the field of education and training for young people. Within the framework of the ALL’APERTO contemporary art project, artists Alek O., Laura Pugno (in collaboration with Diogene Lab, Turin) and Valentina Vetturi, have been working in close contact with the community and schools in Trivero on initiatives of relevance to the territory.
Also linked to the project, a new workshop for small children, “A place I like” (by reservation), in which they create their own favorite spaces using colored threads, images and colors with Laura Pugno.
And once again, given the huge demand, the opening of the Ermenegildo Zegna Wool Mill for guided tours (only on Saturday and only by reservation) and the historical archives.

Saturday 25 March
- Guided tour of the Ermenegildo Zegna Wool Mill (for adults and by reservation only), a unique opportunity to view an entire, vertically integrated textile production process, guaranteeing quality and excellence. Tours start at: 10.30; 11.30; 14.00; 15.00.
- Educational workshops for kids (5 to 14 years): A place I like (by reservation) with artist Laura Pugno, under the “ALL’APERTO” project. Create your favorite space using colored threads, images and colors! Continuous, from 10.00 to 18.00.
Sunday 26 March
Guided tour for all the family to discover “Ermenegildo Zegna’s Hidden Places":
- the Picture Room, with a series of paintings - “The Art of Wool in the Middle Ages” -by Ettore Olivero Pistoletto;
- Ermenegildo Zegna’s private cinema, built by Otto Maraini, where there will be a showing of the documentary “From Wool to Fabric” (Istituto Luce, 1939);
- the garden designed by Otto Maraini and Pietro Porcinai, with bas-reliefs, drawings and statues, symbols of a private life.
Tours start at: 10.30; 14.00; 15.00
Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March
- Unaccompanied and guided visits to Casa Zegna (historical archives and museum facility). Permanent exhibition: “A hundred years of excellence”; temporary exhibition: “Alek O., Laura Pugno and Valentina Vetturi: three Artists for Trivero”, featuring the results of workshops held by Alek O and Laura Pugno for secondary school students in Trivero. While Valentina Vetturi will present a new stage in her “Alzheimer Café”, a project developed for “All’Aperto”. From 10.00 to 18.00.
- Unaccompanied visits to the ALL’APERTO project’s contemporary art installations.
In the neighborhood of Casa Zegna it’s possible to view the installations of the ALL’APERTO project curated by Andrea Zegna and Barbara Casavecchia and promoted by Fondazione Zegna to broaden access to contemporary art. On the terraces of the Zegna Wool Mill, the return of spring can be enjoyed with a new exhibition of Daniel Buren’s "The Colored Weathervanes, work in situ, 2007, Trivero”; in various parts of Trivero Alberto Garutti’s bench-sculptures entitled “The dog portrayed here belongs to one of the families in Trivero”, and Stefano Arienti’s The Telepathists, large local river rocks on which the artist has drawn human features and which form an infrastructure offering free WiFi coverage in various points throughout the municipality. Also in Trivero, Marcello Maloberti’s installation/garden: Kisses Sweeter Than Wine, a “garden of delights” designed for the community; Roman Signer’s Horloge, a clock without hands at the entrance to the Zegna Wool Mill, and Liliana Moro’s "29.88 SQ KM", the info-point at the entrance to the town. And for those who visit the splendid Valley of Rhododendrons (2 km from Trivero on the Panoramica Zegna road) there is Dan Graham’s Two Way Mirror / Hedge Arabesque, a pavilion in stainless steel and differentially refracting glass that envelops visitors in a kaleidoscope of reflections multiplying their view of the surrounding landscape.
All the visits and workshops are free of charge. Reservation is obligatory.
