This is what greets visitors in May and June to the Conca dei Rododendri (Rhododendron Bowl) turns into an extraordinarily beautiful palette of colors in May and June. In the ’20s, Ermenegildo Zegna decided to reclaim the hills above Trivero by planting over 500,000 conifers and hundreds of azaleas, dahlias, hydrangeas and above all rhododendrons (mainly from nurseries in Belgium).

This scenographic valley was given its current aspect in the ‘60s by the great landscape architect Pietro Porcinai, who worked in Trivero between 1959 and 1979, and more recently by architect Paolo Pejrone’s restructuring work.

The plants were carefully laid out in this natural basin, according to their sizes and colors, to harmonize perfectly with the landscape. Copper beeches, ashes, spiraeas, heather and camellias cold the basin all year round and are also spectacular in autumn.

This is also the site of Dan Graham’s installation for the ALL'APERTO art project. Near to the Conca dei Rododendri is the Cascina Caruccia picnic area, easily accessed from Baso, where there is an easy path (also for the disabled) to the Conca.
