We’re very proud of the certification that the FSC® decided to grant to Oasi Zegna. For us, it means recognition of the coherence and determination that inform our day-to-day efforts to preserve our woodlands, the panoramas and the genuineness of the entire territory, and without closing them to the public.”

This is how Anna Zegna commented on the certification that Oasi Zegna’s forest management received today, Friday 18 February, in the Sala Quadri at Casa Zegna in Trivero Valdilana. Based on global standards, and therefore valid worldwide, this international certification is only issued to entities that generate a positive impact on the environment, incentivize responsible forest management and conserve natural forest services, thus giving back value to woodlands and the communities in such territories.

Only eight entities in Italy have so far obtained this international certification of their conservation of natural services. Oasi Zegna provides a unique model of private management of a vast natural area for social ends, to preserve and upgrade the landscape and all forms of life living in it.

Oasi Zegna’s FSC® certification is a milestone along a journey that was begun 112 years ago, when the Founder revived the mountain landscape around Trivero Valdilana by planting over a million trees. His action sprang from a profound desire to give something back to the community where he was born.

Oasi Zegna itself is a project that was launched in 1993 to work in collaboration with nature and the people living in it for the purpose of harmony and mutual wellbeing and with a special focus on future generations and environmental education. In 2014, it was granted the patronage of the FAI, Fondo Ambiente Italiano.

2020 saw the launching of Zegna Forest, a wide reaching conservation and renewal project in Oasi Zegna. It has so far operated on 33 hectares of the conifer woods planted by Ermenegildo Zegna and will involve a total of 166 hectares in the coming years.

And now this FSC® certification, “a significant achievement,” concludes Anna Zegna, “but also a stimulus to persevere with the passion and energy we’ve had from the very start”.
