Caring is not only a duty. For us it’s always spontaneous, coming from the heart with enthusiasm and generosity. We will go on planting trees: this won’t be an isolated gesture but a choral effort.” The words of Anna Zegna, president of Fondazione Zegna, express the spirit of an extraordinary project that’s being developed in the mountains of Valdilana.
It’s called Zegna Forest (follow this link for a presentation of the project as a whole) and it’s an ambitious long-term program to safeguard the environment in Oasi Zegna. These woods – a heritage of 500,000 conifers – were planted by the enlightened Ermenegildo Zegna, who at the beginning of the 20th century launched an unprecedented reforestation project to revive an arid and over-exploited tract of mountain terrain. We’ve been looking after this vast treasure for over a century now, with a deep sense of responsibility, because we’re convinced that when we draw benefit from nature, it’s up to us to give back what we’ve received.
